The Detroit Red Wings (16-24-7) play the second game of a four-game series against the Dallas Stars (18-14-12) Tuesday. Puck drop will be at 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Red Wings-Stars odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The two teams are playing the second half of a back-to-back at American Airlines Center before moving to Detroit for the third and fourth games of this set. Dallas won 3-2 in a shootout Monday and now leads the series 4-1 but two of those wins went beyond 60 minutes.

The Wings lost back-to-back games following a rare three-game win streak. They were outshot 36-22 by the Stars Monday but forced extra time for the fourth time in their last seven games.

The Stars have won three straight games and five of their last seven to push into fifth place in the West Division. They remain without C Tyler Seguin (hip), RW Alexander Radulov (lower body) and G Ben Bishop (knee) but are pushing for a playoff spot after going to the Stanley Cup Final last summer.

Red Wings at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Thomas Greiss (5-15-7, .901 SV%, 3.02 GAA) vs. Jake Oettinger (8-5-6, .919 SV%, 2.16 GAA)

Greiss has more wins in April than he had in the first three months of the season combined. He is 3-1-3 with a .932 save percentage and 2.07 goals against average this month. He has gotten the Wings at least one point in five straight outings, including Monday's shootout loss.

Oettinger gets the call for Game 2 in place of Anton Khudobin. The backup for the 2021 season beat the Columbus Blue Jackets twice on home ice last week with a total of 38 saves on 40 shots. He's 1-1 against the Red Wings.

Red Wings at Stars: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Stars 4, Red Wings 2

Money line (ML)

While the projected score is an honest prediction and I expect the Stars to continue to handle business against a weak opponent while sniffing a playoff berth, the RED WINGS (+210) are worth chasing in the second half of the back-to-back after Monday's shootout loss.

Dallas is 0-4 in its last four games playing on zero rest. Three games in the season series thus far were decided by a single goal with two of those going to extra time.

Against the spread (ATS)

The more advisable play is to back the STARS -1.5 (+100) to win by at least 2 goals at even money. Dallas registered 62.63% of the total shot attempts and 56.82% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5 in Monday's victory.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight lean to the OVER 5.5 (+115) as the more profitable side of the line. Dallas scored 3 or more goals in three straight games and should handle the bulk of the scoring against a tired Greiss.
