Syracuse at Clemson: Three things to know

  1. Syracuse has been a thorn in Clemson's side over the years. The last time they met in Death Valley, the Tigers eked out a 27-23 win as 24-point favorites on Sept. 29, 2018. Before that, the Orange bumped off the then-No. 2 Tigers 27-24 in Syracuse on Oct. 13, 2017. That Orange team, and the current installment, are night and day, however.
  2. The Orange are coming off a 38-21 home loss to Liberty, and they have allowed 38.0 PPG in each of the past two outings while scoring just 22.5 PPG. That's not good heading into a date with the perennial title contenders of Dabo Swinney.
  3. After going 0-3 ATS in the first three contests, Clemson has covered in each of the past two games. The Tigers rolled up 73 points in a road rout of Georgia Tech last weekend, easily covering a 27-point number. Clemson ranks third in the country with 48.4 PPG, while allowing just 12.0 PPG to rank fifth defensively.

Syracuse at Clemson: Odds, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Clemson 63, Syracuse 10

Money line (ML)

Clemson (-10000) has 99.01% implied odds of winning, so it's a near certainty that the Tigers pull off a convincing victory. However, why would you ever consider risking $100 for every $1 won? Even in a multi-team parlay this isn't a good game to include. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

In games when it's heavily favored, CLEMSON ( -46) normally takes its foot off the gas once it gets up comfortably. That was the case in an earlier game against The Citadel, although it certainly wasn't the case last week in Atlanta. Even when the Tigers pulled their starters for reserves, it was gas pedal to the floor. Expect more of the same this week against Syracuse (+46), which was romped by Liberty at home last Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 62.5 (+100) could be taken care of by Clemson but itself, and it's something it easily did last week. The bonus is that playing the Over will cost you even-money, too. The Over has hit in three in a row for Syracuse.
