LAS CRUCES – PHHoenix Prep's Kiran Oliver announced his commitment to New Mexico State on Tuesday via his Twitter.

The 6-foot-4 guard is a Chicago, Illinois, native who's now playing in Phoenix, Arizona, for the PHHoenix Prep Fire. Oliver is New Mexico State's first Class of 2021 commit.

“We are thrilled Ky has chosen to join our university and basketball program," Aggies head coach Chris Jans said. "Ky is a dynamic young man both on and off the floor. He oozes potential and possesses the ability to be a special player for the Aggies.”

Oliver is an athlete with plenty of bounce, a strong motor on the boards at his position and a knack for finishing tough takes at the rim.

The shooting guard can also knock a few down from distance, although his shot could get more consistent in addition to improving his handles.

Oliver joins New Mexico State after receiving offers from Arizona State, Nevada, Portland State and Pepperdine. He also visited New Mexico last December.
