LAS CRUCES – Former New Mexico State guard AJ Harris signed with the Hobart Chargers on Wednesday.

Located in Hobart, Tasmania, the Chargers are a part of the NBL1, a professional basketball league in Australia.

The league was created in 2019 for the purpose of strengthening the pathway from the junior levels to the premier professional basketball league in Australia and New Zealand, the National Basketball League (NBL).

"I'm super excited for this opportunity that God has blessed me with," Harris said in an Instagram post. "I've been working my hardest just waiting and staying patient for this... I can't wait to get to work and show Australia the type of player I am on the court and also off the court."

Harris graduated from New Mexico State following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 campaign.

The 5-foot-9 floor general earned spots on the 2018 WAC All-Newcomer Team, the 2019 WAC All-Defensive Team and the 2019 All-WAC Second Team during his time with the Aggies.

Harris signed with KB Vllaznia, an Albanian professional team, on Oct. 18, 2020. Now a member of the Hobart Chargers, this marks the second stop in his professional career.
