LAS CRUCES - The Doña Ana Sheriff's Office requested the public's help on Saturday after they discovered the body of a woman.

Sheriff Kim Stewart said the body was discovered at about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 15. She said that a passerby reported seeing the body near the Las Alturas frontage road west of the Mesquite exit off Interstate 10 in southern Doña Ana County.

Deputies then discovered a woman with shoulder-length hair between the ages of 20 and 35, just out of sight of what is known locally as the “quarry,” Stewart said.

"We are asking the public’s assistance in identifying her," Stewart said.

The woman's body had a tattoo on her left arm and was discovered wearing blue shorts with Star Wars branding.

"Please contact Detective Bo Nevarez by email at robertn@donaanacounty.org if you have any information regarding her identity," Stewart said.
