Man charged with myriad child sex crimes released on $35,000 secured bond

LAS CRUCES - A Las Cruces man charged with myriad felonies, including 42 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, was granted a $35,000 secured bond in district court Thursday. 

Johnny Pacheco, 48, appeared in court Thursday before Third Judicial District Judge Richard Jacquez and was granted release on bond and conditions of release that include no contact with the victim, the victim's family and friends. 

Pacheco is charged with 42 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, 15 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of criminal solicitation and one count of battery.

Las Cruces police have been investigating allegations against Pacheco since December 2020. The charges against Pacheco represent offenses that began when the victim was 14, according to court records. During forensic interviews, the victim disclosed a series of sexual assaults and other incidents which occurred over the last four years. 

Pacheco was arrested May 7.
