LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces will hold its fourth free drive-thru mask distribution event from 1  - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Vista Middle School, 4465 Elks Dr.

Reusable masks for adults and kids will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis as part of the City’s ongoing campaign — Mask Up Las Cruces.

“Thanksgiving is around the corner and the best gift that you can give your family is to be healthy,” said Lynn Gallagher, Quality of Life director. "We encourage everyone to protect your loved ones by wearing a face covering, practicing social distancing, washing our hands often, and staying home as much as possible."

There is no cost, ID or registration required to pick up a mask or get tested. You also don’t need insurance to get tested but you will need to fill out a small form. Community members must remain in their vehicles and roll down their windows as they approach the distribution tables. No walk-ups or bicyclists will be permitted.

In compliance with all public health orders, staff and volunteers will be wearing personal protective equipment and social distancing requirements will be observed at all times.

Recently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidelines to celebrate Thanksgiving;  the agency is discouraging people from going shopping in crowded stores and attending large indoor gatherings with people outside their households.

An additional “Mask Up Las Cruces” mask distribution event is scheduled for December. Details will be announced closer to the event date. For information, email srodgers@las-cruces.org.
