LAS CRUCES - Video released by the city shows the moment a man later found with a knife attacks Las Cruces police officers.

Suspect Dominic Lopez is shown on video repeatedly pleading with the arresting officers to "kill me" after he's taken down to the ground during the Sept. 16 altercation with officers on South Solano Drive.

In the video, one of the officers can be heard saying he believes Lopez's left elbow and a rib were broken during the minute-long struggle. Lopez is transported to a law enforcement medical bay where video shows a different officer comforting Lopez as the suspect recovers from his injuries.

Earlier that day, police were called to the home of one of Lopez's friends, in the 1300 block of Gardner Avenue, because Lopez was alleging using a crowbar to damage vehicles and the home because he was told he couldn't come inside.

After receiving a description of Lopez, a Las Cruces police officer locates him walking along south Solano Drive. The police officer calls out to Lopez to "come here" multiple times before Lopez tries to cross the street.

When Lopez begins to cross, the officer chases after him and commands him to stop. Lopez runs in front of a RoadRUNNER Transit van. The officer runs behind the van and yells at Lopez to stop, who then runs around the driver's side passenger of the van and attacks the officer.

Another officer on scene helps the first officer gain control of Lopez. The two officers struggle to keep control of Lopez, who repeatedly calls out to them to kill him, growls and curses at them.

As the two officers attempt  handcuff Lopez, they begin to turn him over and find a knife underneath him. One of the officers grabs the knife and throws it to the side as Lopez continues to growl at them and command them to kill him. Lopez is eventually put in restraints and arrested.
