Meals you can make with canned goods and other pantry items during the coronavirus quarantine

If you're avoiding shopping (or your stores are running low on supplies) during the coronavirus pandemic, we're here to help.

We've rounded up a list of meal ideas you can achieve with many ingredients you may already have in your pantry – for example, all those cans of beans that have somehow piled up on your shelves.

So instead of going out, stay in and cook up some of these canned food recipes for you and your family – just remember to wash your hands!

Bean salad: What do you do with all the canned beans in your pantry? Make bean salad, of course! Simply Recipe's three bean salad may be a quintessential picnic food, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it inside as a (vegan-friendly!) main dish or a side.

Mexican bean salad: Canned beans and corn galore? Perfect for a different take on a bean salad. All Recipes' Mexican bean salad calls for frozen corn but canned corn can substitute. Fresh peppers can also be omitted if you don't have any on hand, thanks to the dish's many spices.

Rice and bean burritos:  Want something to go with your Mexican bean salad? How about a burrito! Budget Bytes' make ahead bean and cheese burritos can be made without the cheese if you've run out but still packs a lot of flavor with the seasoned rice. Or instead of a bean salad side, liven up some canned refried beans with spices and lime juice!

Canned beans will yield many meals during the coronavirus quarantine.

No tortillas? Make some from scratch! You'll only need flour, water, salt and oil for Just a Taste's 30-minute homemade flour tortillas.

Shakshuka: Canned tomatoes, spices and poached eggs are the main ingredients in this Mediterranean dish. Love & Lemon's best shakshuka also adds flavor with fresh herbs and feta. Don't have eggs, cheese or herbs? Totally fine to skip for a modified (and vegan-friendly!) version. If you want to make it a little more hardy, Recipes From a Pantry's easy shakshuka bulks up the base with potatoes. Or try adding beans for a bit of added proteins.

Don't have bread for dipping? Check out our story on easy bread recipes to make during quarantine, even if you're out of yeast, milk or butter.

Spaghetti and lentils: Looking for a way to make your spaghetti heartier even without meat? Cookie and Kate's hearty spaghetti with lentils and marinara sauce will use up those lentils in your pantry and provide extra protein. Bonus: it's vegan-friendly! The marinara sauce can be from a prepared canned or you can make it from scratch.

Tuna and noodles: Add creamed tuna (recipe here) with 10 ounces of egg noodles, cooked. You can eat it just like that – or put it in a Pyrex dish and cover it with breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter or crushed potato chips and grated cheese, and bake uncovered 20 to 25 minutes until the top is crisp.

Tuna mac: For a cheesier spin on tuna and noodles, prepare a box of mac and cheese (or make your own if you're really feeling fancy/have the supplies) and add your creamed tuna for a protein-packed mac. Add one (or all) of the topping options from the recipe above and bake for a delicious crispy layer.

Have even more stockpiled cans of tuna? Check out our other recipes for canned tuna.

Pumpkin cake: Yes, you can even make dessert with items from your pantry! Yummly's pumpkin cake only has two main ingredients: a box of cake mix and a 15-ounce can of pumpkin. Adding pumpkin pie spice, vanilla and cinnamon are also recommended.

Peach cake: More of a fruity cake person? Try Mom Foodie's peach dump cake, which only needs a box of yellow cake mix, canned peaches and butter.

Fudge: Have condensed milk? Try your hand at some homemade fudge. Back For Seconds' chocolate peanut butter double decker fudge also calls for peanut butter and baking chips.
