LAS CRUCES – For many people, one of the hardest parts about self isolating is not being able to go shopping.

According to digitalcommerce360.com, a study by Adobe Analytics finds that not only are online sales growing, but so are pickup orders. The number of orders shoppers have bought online and picked up in store increased 62% year over year from Feb. 24 to March 24. The reason why online sales are up so much is clear — the coronavirus pandemic has many U.S. consumers at home and shopping at home.

In Las Cruces, residents have also been treating themselves by ordering from Amazon. Here are five things people in the City of Crosses have bought online:

1. SleekEZ Original Deshedding Grooming Tool for Dogs, Cats

Since most pet groomers just opened — after being shut down for six weeks — Chantelle Yazzie-Martin had to resort to grooming her own pets. She said she recently ordered an animal grooming tool called SleekEZ for her pets and said it really does work as seen on TV.

According to the Knit Picks Yarn Ball Winder, the winder lets you transform yarn hanks and skeins into compact center-pull cakes that sit nicely while you knit and crochet. The winder has a removable spindle and a yarn guide arm that folds make for compact storage while still allowing quick and easy assembly.

3. Plastic horse head mask

Some residents are going a little creative to lift their spirits in quarantine. Renee Torres said she ordered a plastic horse head to add some humor to typical face masks.

New York Yankees pitcher Shawn Kelley came out to stretch with a horse head mask on before a baseball game against the Chicago White Sox Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Yankee Stadium in New York.

"My amazon shopping has gotten super bad. I bought a plastic horse head after seeing everyone in these crazy masks," Torres said. "I'm debating to buy an inflatable shark costume."

According to the ABULU Halloween Horse Head Mask, the novelty horse mask is great for masquerade parties, costume parties, carnival, Christmas, Easter, Halloween or any other parties.

4. Diamond art

Patricia Holguin said to pass the time she has been diamond painting. Diamond painting is a new craft hobby that's a mix between cross stitch and paint by numbers. According to paintwithdiamonds.com, you apply tiny resin "diamonds" to a DMC-coded adhesive canvas to create vibrant mosaic paintings.

Always willing to try new art projects, Batson is currently working on a “diamond painting” in her moments of downtime at the studio.

"I ordered diamond art, new style of paint by number, really cool," Holguin said. "It's worth the price and time."

According to Amazon, the diamond paintings are perfect for home decoration and a creative gift for your parents, lovers, friends, colleagues, etc.
